This place is pretty creepy. If you're wearing shorts they give you a burlap sack to wear to cover your legs. The dungeon in Grand Meteora has a wall of skulls from previous monks. The ride there is on a long flat plain with these high rock formations ahead which reminded me of Mordor. The town of Kalabaka below the monasteries is a nice little village with lots of hotels and restaurants.
